The Metadata Power Hour

“Feel like you hear too much about metadata? Not enough? Find it confusing? Of vital importance? Yes to all of the above! In very practical ways, metadata has different implications for different roles in scholarly communications and like so many topics close to us, it can be hard to sift through the available information to find out what it means to you. “Join our panel of experts to understand the challenges and opportunities for everyone involved in or affected by scholarly metadata (so, pretty much everyone)-authors, editors, librarians, service providers and more. With real-life use cases and a little humour, together we will cover topics like:

  • What are PIDs and will we ever see an end to new ones?
  • How on earth do I know what’s in my metadata? Or yours?
  • Who’s using all of this metadata anyway and for what exactly?
  • A panel of experts explores the challenges and opportunities for everyone involved in or affected by scholarly metadata.A panel of experts explores the challenges and opportunities for everyone involved in or affected by scholarly metadata. Why should I care about it?”
