Why Do We Need Knowledge Organization Capabilities?
March 10, 2022 @ 11:00 am - 12:00 pm EST
The Business Value of Knowledge Organization Systems – Roundtable 1
“Knowledge Organization Systems (KOS) such as taxonomies, ontologies, knowledge graphs, and metadata schemas are critical pieces of infrastructure that help organizations achieve their business goals. This Roundtable series addresses how we can establish the business value for KOS and how we can go about building the necessary capabilities to deliver this business value. This series features a team of distinguished panelists who will bring insights from their experience, and there will be opportunities for participants to share their own experience.”
“The first session of three covers how KOS business value can be framed and measured. Participants will then engage in facilitated breakout room discussions related to their business focus, to explore how the business focus of a KOS can help to identify the best way to communicate the business value.”
“Our panelists, Ahren Lehnert, Bob Kasenchak, Patrick Lambe and Stephanie Lemieux, will bring together the key points from the breakout sessions and open the event to a full group discussion.”
“The session will be followed by a survey on the capabilities required to deliver this business value, in order to gather real-world use case data from participants and the wider community.”
“To preserve privacy and encourage openness, these events will not be recorded and materials will not be available on demand afterwards. This series is hosted by Dovecot Studio, Factor, Straits Knowledge and Synaptica.”
